PEERS

PEERS® Social Skills Group for Teens (Ages 12–15)

This evidenced-based social skills program is designed to assist motivated participants in forming and maintaining friendships. Group participants receive instructions in fundamental communication techniques and are given the opportunity to practice with peers during each session. Parents and caregivers learn how to foster the development of social networks and provide feedback for weekly homework assignments.

Eligibility:​

  • Adolescents ages 12 to 15

  • Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or exhibiting social skills difficulties

Commitment:​

  • Duration: 14 weeks

  • Session Length: 1.5 hours per week

    • Includes 1 hour of teen group instruction​

    • 30 minutes of concurrent parent training

  • Attendance Requirement: Participation in at least 12 of 14 sessions is required​

PEERS®

Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills

Program Features:​

  • Step-by-step social skills instruction

  • Weekly homework assignments for skill generalization

  • Fun and engaging activities to encourage participation

  • Parent involvement to support learning and reinforcement at home

  • Access to parent handouts, preparation strategies, and research-based guidance

  • Discussion of common pitfalls and tools to overcome them

Facilitator:

  • Dr. Hirsh is our PEERS® provider leading this program with the assistance of our co-facilitator, Kelsey McKannan.

  • Sessions are held in-person in Huntsville at The HEALTH SENSE.

Cost: $700 for full program (sessions may be covered by your insurance)

We also provide psychological evaluations for ages 5+
